Military Aircraft

Right from the 1927 running through the 1930 and 40s, many flying machines have been built for military purpose. Further developments have been seen the aircraft's being used for commercial purposes also. People are liked by the aircraft's power and beauty. People are nostalgic about these machines and prefer to make classic model aircrafts. During World War II many military aircraft came into existence. Germany had the Messershmitt jet, which was copied by Japan in 1945. During the Korean War  F-80 from the United States flew into combat against MiG-15s from North Korea. This was the 1st recorded dogfight between jet aircraft.

Military aircraft have various types. But it depends upon the type of work. Here we discus the general types of military aircraft. Whether you are aviation buff or just enjoy playing the "Ace Combat" video game series, it's interesting to know the various types of military planes out there.

Fighter: Fighter military aircraft is focused on air-to-air combat and establishing air superiority in any combat theater. They are typically very fast and agile. Notable fighter aircraft in 2009 include the F-15 and F-22.

Most military aircraft store some of the fuel for the aircraft in the wings. In the future fighter planes will have chemical lasers on board instead of guns or air to air missiles. Generally the outer wing of a aircraft does not hold fuel due to the weight and wing loading, yet it could hold compressed gas to use for chemical laser weapons.

Bomber: Bomber military aircraft is designed for attacking large-scale ground targets. They are typically slower then other and heavily armored, so they are not at all suited for air-to-air combat. Notable bombers military aircraft include the B-52 and B-2.

Attack: Attacker military aircraft is essentially smaller bombers. These aircraft are designed to attack smaller ground targets and possessing greater maneuverability than bombers, attackers can also provide support to fighters. Notable attack military aircraft include the A-10 and F-117.

Multi-role: Multi-role military aircraft is designed to be equally adept at both air-to-air combat and ground target attacks; they essentially combine a fighter and an attacker into one plane. Notable multi-role military aircraft include the F-16 and the F/A-18.

Special: There are numerous special function military planes. Surveillance military aircraft, like the ES-3 and the SR-71, monitor the skies and provide reconnaissance. Jammers, like the EF-111,is to provide electronic support to countermeasures to other planes.

Other Types: Other types of military aircraft means include cargo planes for transporting troops and equipment, tankers for mid-air refueling and trainers for training new pilots.
